Seek to challenge

Something struck me the other day, at a point of my view of the present and my own view of how I saw my future.  Now I know that I cannot foresee my own future, but it brought about this idea of setting a few challenges for myself.  Challenges that make me defy limitations and the strive for seeking beyond the status quo.

I want these to push my own boundaries and try new and exciting opportunities.  What those might be, might surprise even myself.  Move into other jobs outside the support realm of technology.  Challenge myself to talk less and say/share more.  Putting on an Ignite event is going to be interesting to provide such a challenge.  Growth to take that leap of faith and do things that make me nervous and uncomfortable.

There may times where I succeed and times were I might fail, but not trying is even worse. We all want to grow beyond our limits, but how many of us actually do something about it.  I want to say yes to a new challenge and excel at many things.  Asking myself “Why not” and “Here goes nothing”.

I am reminded of a Steve Jobs quote
“Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle. As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it. And, like any great relationship, it just gets better and better as the years roll on. So keep looking until you find it. Don’t settle.”

Starting with these challenges is my first step to change the way I want to see my life and go beyond what the world says I should do.
